1

Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC)

Eligible service leavers can claim Enhanced Learning Credits towards approved further or higher education and vocational courses. Claims have rules on timing, approved providers and contribution levels.

Legal / official reference: Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS)
What to do: Check eligibility and claim windows at www.enhancedlearningcredits.com before booking a course.
2

Resettlement training & CTP courses

As you leave service, resettlement time and CTP workshops can fund or support training that maps to civilian jobs.

Legal / official reference: Career Transition Partnership resettlement offer
What to do: Book CTP workshops early via your resettlement officer or www.modctp.co.uk.
3

Apprenticeships for veterans

Veterans can access apprenticeships across England, Scotland, Wales and NI. Some employers run veteran-specific cohorts.

Legal / official reference: GOV.UK Find an apprenticeship | national apprenticeship services
What to do: Search Find an apprenticeship and filter for employers advertising veteran-friendly schemes.
4

Further & higher education support

Universities and colleges often have armed forces champions, contextual admissions or student support for service leavers and families. Student finance rules still apply.

Legal / official reference: Student finance (nation-specific) | university armed forces networks
What to do: Contact the university's armed forces liaison or student support before applying.
5

Recognition of military qualifications

Many military trades map to civilian licences (driving, engineering, logistics, healthcare). Conversion courses and Accreditation of Prior Learning can shorten training.

Legal / official reference: CTP | professional body conversion routes
What to do: List trade qualifications on your CV and ask CTP or the professional body about conversion.
6

IT & digital skills bootcamps

Free or low-cost digital skills bootcamps and sector academies are often open to veterans as career changers.

Legal / official reference: Skills Bootcamps / national digital skills programmes
What to do: Search GOV.UK Skills Bootcamps or ask CTP about current digital pathways.
